Ubuntu login freeze after installing nvidia drivers (both 390 and 415)
I've seen that there is some articles on this topic regarding the login freeze after installing nvidia drivers but none of the fixes worked for me.
I'm on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and I temporarily fixed the problem by purging the current drivers before login via ctrl alt f2. Any idea how can I install the drivers and make it work without freezing?

I believe that Nividia 418.43 is the most current version. You might check if it's for your video card.

@heynnema I have Windows 10 & Ubuntu in dual boot. My 950m works fine on Windows.

The fact that your Nvidia works fine in Windows has no bearing on how it works, or doesn't work, in Ubuntu. Here the key is "login freeze after installing nvidia drivers". I'll bet that if you boot withnomodeset
it won't freeze. As I mention, make sure that your card doesn't need the 418 driver to be current.
