Really Slow System After Suspend to Ram

0

I honestly don't even know where to start. I have been distro-hopping like crazy to see if I can find something that works out of the box with my system. My problem is, when I first boot on the system (it's a laptop), everything is AMAZING! But if it sits idle and suspends to ram or if I manually STR then when I wake the system, it is very very sluggish. Commands run very slow (mainly sudo commands). The odd part is, to my knowledge, cpu speed isn't slowed down. There is still plenty of RAM available. Closing and/or opening new programs or windows within a program is vastly slowed down (both programs that access the internet and programs that don't).

Possible off-topic question. Elementary OS is not Ubuntu, nor an official flavor of Ubuntu thus off-topic on this site. Please refer to askubuntu.com/help/on-topic

  • Okay where would I ask this question. This is an entire linux-wide question. It affects every distro. I figured you all were chill here but nobody wants to seem to help me nor point me in the right direction. I have Kubuntu and it's literally the same. Want me to take this down and post with Kubuntu specs? Because it's literally the exact same. I have narrowed it down to my disk read/write speeds being cut in half after wake from suspend. Help a brotha out. Please.

  • I don't think I've ever seen a distro where absolutely everything works perfect right from the live ISO, everything needs at lest some tweaking. But well, you know, that's just like, my opinion, man. And if it's bad when you suspend to ram, why do it? Can't be saving that much power, the ram's still on, so why not either shutdown or try suspend to disk? [PS there's a unix stackexchange, or superuser.com]

  • The link I provided before points out generic Unix & Linux questions can be asked at unix.stackexchange.com, Elementary questions at elementaryos.stackexchange.com/questions/ask, and Ubuntu (and official flavor) questions here. It's your choice, but I'd suggest following rules of the site you decide on to get the best responses, or just using a site like the first one if you want fewer restrictions
