Canon G2000 scanner doesnt show up in simple scan in kali linux

I had recently added a printer cum scanner of cannon model pix ma g2000 to my Kali desktop when i installed the simple scan program for scanning the documents , it shows up that i don't have any scanner, while as my printer runs fine and i could print the pages. Can anyone help me out?
