Want to know why Webcam can't be captured by Cheese while VLC picks it up

While I thought the webcam wasn't working because sudo cheese command wasn't picking up anything except for assertion fail: device != NULL log, trying something with VLC( vlc v4l2:///dev/video0 ) properly picked up webcam and worked. I want to know why VLC works but Cheese doesn't, but can't figure out what to look for. I looked up this SO post insisting that cheese has some issues, but that post didn't make clear what issues that can cause Cheese not to pick up stream properly . video

Changing click-drag delay setting?

Image
.everyoneloves__top-leaderboard:empty,.everyoneloves__mid-leaderboard:empty,.everyoneloves__bot-mid-leaderboard:empty{ margin-bottom:0; } 1 1 To drag something with the mouse, it seems I have to hold the mouse button down for a fraction of a second before dragging (dragging immediately after clicking does not work). I don't like this, but can't find any setting in the 'mouse & touchpad' settings to change it. Is there any way to reduce this delay? mouse settings input share | improve this question edited Nov 14 '15 at 12:31 UpTheCreek
