Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported
It’s my nephews laptop, he doesn’t know what he did to get here. I am clueless about these things!! He says he usually has windows 7. And I’m just trying to get that back for him.

Possible off-topic question. This is a Ubuntu support site, and not for Windows questions. If you are getting a 'grub' message it's because the system was dual-booting and most likely a partition required to make it work was deleted. To fix windows 7 you need to runbootrec /fixmbr
but that's off-topic here as we support Ubuntu, which you didn't mention at all. (askubuntu.com/help/on-topic)
