Ubuntu 18.04.02 Installation freezes at selecting normal/minimal installation

0

I was able to install Ubuntu 18.04.01 on my laptop successfully. But, by mistake, while using windows 8.1(Dual boot with ubuntu), in disk management, I extended the Ubuntu installed partition with my normal storage drives. Then I tried to install Ubuntu again, but this time, I got error in the last step "Unable to install grub in /dev/sda". Once again I tried but the same error. Searched on the internet, founded some solutions and was going to try those, but now the installer does not move beyond the installation type selection(normal/minimal installation). After pressing continue, It keeps on loading and then even after 15 minutes, It does not move. Tried different solutions. Tried different iso files, different softwares like rufus and trying different usb drives, but in vain. Please help me, I am new to linux. I wanted to explore it.

  • I am a bit confused about what you have now... Does Windows boot? Does Ubuntu boot? If any of them boots, can you please describe what you have on your hard drive (partitions, file systems...)?

  • Did you verify your Ubuntu install-media? When you see the person-in-circle & keyboard icon, you can press a key and an menu appears offering you to verify your install-media (ie. verify it was downloaded & written successfully). I would suggest this (if not already done) be your next step. If it's invalid, you're looking at hours or days of bug-chasing as a consequence of the 20-90 seconds this takes (ie. it's cheap insurance).
