Wireless Issue with Rtl8188su Chipset USB dongle

0

I feel I have scoured the internet to solve this issue to no avail.

I know there is a solution I am just unsure of how to find it.

The Issue: I am unable to see any wifi networks. I WAS able to when I installed it at first, though I could still not connect to them, it was saying it needed passkeys or authentication. After trying to install various drivers, I have lost all sight of networks.

.

  • I have recently installed Linux Mint 19.1

  • Updated the system until there are not more updates

  • Installed the most current Graphics driver 415 I think

  • Installed and have working "Easytether" via an old tethered cellphone connected to my router(will this conflict?)

  • Uninstalled Network Manager and installed Wicd(this caused Cinnamon to crash and had to reinstall using alt-ctl-f1, etc.)

  • Wicd is currently installed and I noticed when I installed cinnamon again it reinstalled Network Manager.

  • It shows "no networks available" in network manager and wicd.
I have installed the rtl8192su-master drivers from github(these support the 8188su chipset from what I can tell.)

  • Attempted windows drivers via Ndiswrapper

  • I know there are commands that will tell you what is running and, installed, etc.

  • I will give you the outputs of these as you ask for them.

  • Thanks :)
