BTRFS GParted Shrink: No Space on Disk?

0

I'm trying to shrink my btrfs 900Gib HDD down to 500Gib so that I can transfer it using clonezilla to my new 500 Gib SSD.

I thought that I could just shrink down the partition using gparted, but it fails with this error:
Gparted

The inode usage is < 1%.

sarah@ConvergentRefuge:~$ df -i
Filesystem Inodes IUsed IFree IUse% Mounted on

This particuar attempt occurred on the system that I'm trying to resize, I've had other attmepts with no successes on the Kubuntu live USB, and the gparted live USB.

I'm not sure why.
