How to install libavcodec with Apt for Cygwin?
I am having some trouble with installing new packages using cygwin's apt
version of apt-get
. The issue is, when I run the commands below, I receive
Coder@Coder-WIN10 ~
$ apt-cyg update
--2018-08-21 14:53:56-- http://cygwin.mirror.constant.com//x86_64/setup.bz2

Updated setup.ini
Coder@Coder-WIN10 ~
$ apt-cyg install libavcodec-extra-56

I've tried multiple packages, but not all are installing without issue. What is the approach that I should take when installing packages that may not be available with the current mirror?

libavcodec-extra-56 has been updated to libavcodec-extra57 in 18.04 and later. To install it run the following command:
sudo apt install libavcodec-extra57
libavcodec-extra has been updated to libavcodec-extra-58 in 18.104 and 19.04.
In earlier Ubuntu versions before 18.04 the same package is named libavcodec-extra.
A standard sources.list file for apt in Ubuntu 18.04 looks like this:
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ bionic main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ bionic-updates main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ bionic-backports main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-security main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu bionic partner
I'm still receiving "$ apt-cyg install libavcodec-extra57 Installing libavcodec-extra57 Unable to locate package libavcodec-extra57" Is there a special mirror that I'm supposed to point to with apt-cyg --mirror before being able to use the command?
