ubuntu www-data permission

I have apache server with php installed on it,i have created new directory through php script,directory get created but it has owner & group (www-data:www-data) which did not allows me to write anything in directory.777 permission is risky which i wont give,i have other directories which has owner & group(ubuntu:ubuntu)
i want newly created directory also under owner & group(ubuntu:ubuntu).
what i need to do in php script when i created directory next time through php script it has owner & group is ubuntu:ubuntu.
