So I have a computer with a SSH server. It is setup to use publickey authentication. Password is disabled. Yesterday, it was working fine outside of the network. Today I tried to login outside of the network and strangely enough it asked for a password. Before logging in ssh warned me that a man in the middle attack might be happening. I am also using a dynamic dns website(noip) to manage the IP address. After typing in the sudo password it denied my access.

I am internationally far away from this computer. I just rang up my admin working next to the computer, and he has just told me that the internet router is not connected to the internet(the internet light is red) and he cannot use the router to surf the web.

Have I just fallen into a man in the middle attack? And given away both the sudo password and the private key?

EDIT: after restarting my client computer(one i use to connect to the far away server computer) it said 'connection reset by peer' then asked for the password like before.
