Laptop freezes when switching keyboard layout

0

I have encountered a very annoying problem. My laptop started to freeze when I switch the keyboard layout. After that, it does not load Gnome on login. The only way to get into Gnome is to delete Gnome config using a different account:

sudo rm -rf .gnome .gnome2 .gconf .gconfd .metacity .cache .dbus .dmrc .mission-control .thumbnails ~/.config/dconf/user ~.compiz*

Not sure if I have to delete everything, I have found this command somewhere.

It started when I was trying to fix the Japanese keyboard layout and installed and then tried to remove fcitx. So I probably messed something up but now don't know how to fix it.
