I'm using ubuntu 18.10 and my laptop has 2 graphic card (intel and Nvidia)

when I want to watch a movie with VLC player , I right click on VLC and choose Launch using dedicated graphic card
By choosing this option , am I using Nvidia for VLC ??
How can I see if I am using intel or Nvidia when I'm watching movie or other program that needs high GPU processing ??

P.S: I know if I choose additional driver and use proprietary driver , in the nvidia-settings I can choose which Graphic card I want to use , but I face with some problems when I use Nvidia for whole system
