Ubuntu 16.04.3 file corrupted if copied to other disk, OK if copied compress/uncompress only on the same hard...

0

A folder on the host machine can be copied to a different location on the same disk and can be opened without any issue. Seems all good on the host machine.

But if copy to a flash drive (tried different flash drive SD, USB formatted in exFAT) and open in MacOSX, Windows 10, or a different Ubuntu 16.04.3 machine, absolutely safe eject. All corrupted, 2GB file, unzipped only 200MB, a lot of empty folders in unzipped file.

Attempted filesystem scan the host machine, from Grub/Advanced/Repair fsck, don't seem to start at all.

Also tried filesystem repair on flash drives, reported error but say fixed.

Very confused, please comment. Will try a different filesystem flash drive tomorrow.

Thanks,
