apt-get update failes with multiple errors

0

Some background: I have installed Ubuntu server 16.10 from an iso as a VM in hyper-v. Networking has been properly configured and I can successfully perform tests such as ping 8.8.8.8

When attempting to run sudo apt-get update I receive the following errors after the reading package lists stage:
errors

From previous research I have tried running the following commands. Neither of which resolved the issue or changed the error output.

sudo rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/*
sudo rm -rf /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*
sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get update --allow-unauthenticated

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

  • Possible off-topic question. Ubuntu 16.10 is EOL and off-topic here. If you just install Ubuntu 16.10 (from 2016.October) then forget fixing problems. It's EOL and you should start again with a supported release of Ubuntu such as 16.04 LTS (from earlier in 2016, Ubuntu releases are yy.mm) or 18.04 LTS (or 18.10 if you don't want to use LTS or long-term-support releases)

  • Possible duplicate of askubuntu.com/questions/91815/… (how to install software or upgrade from an old unsupported release). In future, please copy & paste text into your question (and not providing a picture of text which we cannot easily copy & paste from). Your issue is the EOL status.
