Switch from Gnome to KDE plasma
I have Ubuntu 18.04 running on Gnome currently installed.
I want to switch from Gnome to KDE plasma without losing my already installed applications and files.
How would I do that?

You have two easy options, you cansudo apt install kubuntu-desktop
which adds the Kubuntu (or KDE) to your existing system so you can select at login which DEsktop you want to use for each session. This means you'll have two sets of programs (KDE & GNOME defaults) which increases your bandwidth used for updates etc (as both will get upgraded each time). Your other option is a re-install (Kubuntu) using the 'something else' option without format, it'll take note of your added programs, install Kubuntu then re-add the additional programs you added (assuming from Ubuntu repos). Backup first!
