the boot configuration data for your pc is missing or contains errors

0

(I apologize if this a duplicate. I looked, but nothing seemed exactly like my situation. Please point me to one if it is.)

Hello. I tried to dual boot Ubuntu 1804 with Win 7, Win 8.1 and Win 10. I guess that's quadruple-boot. I discovered that I don't have the time, nor the patience to really learn Ubuntu, so I removed it. I used Easy BCD 2.2 to change the startup menu to Win 7, 8.1 and 10. But now Win81 and Win10 are not booting.

The Win81 error message is:

""windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file"

Win81 error message

The Win10 error message is:

"The boot configuration data for your pc is missing or contains errors"

Win10 error message

Question: How do I make it so that I can boot into both W81 and W10 again?

Only thing what works is Windows 7. ;(

Complicating factor is that I don't have the installation media for neither 8.1, nor W10, the person who had them ísn't around anymore. Nor do I have ID numbers or whatever, I just have that for W7.

What I already tried:
I do have EasyRE for 8.1 and 10 on a rescue-USB, but neither of them works.

Possible off-topic question. You removed Ubuntu, and thus your problem is now a windows specific question (how to boot windows on your hardware), thus off-topic.

  • Possible duplicate of askubuntu.com/questions/822708/restore-windows-bootloader

  • That's not a duplicate, since there, it's not about missing boot information.

  • As stated in my first comment; the question itself is off-topic in my opinion. That post however did contain information on links about downloading windows install media (7, 8), writing so you can boot & use it to restore windows boot , but I didn't look that closely as it's off-topic here (not at all related to Ubuntu)

  • The situation is caused by un-installing Ubuntu, so it's not off-topic. Problems caused by dual-booting with windows is not only common, it might even be the majority of the problems here. And sure, rejecting responsibility is a very human reaction. But wrong. Look, in the end, there's knowledge here that can help me. I would appreciate it if it was shared here. Thank you.
