GUI not appearing after conversion of vmdk to vdi
I am using ubuntu 14.04 as vm in virtualbox. I recently needed to expand the disk for that I had to change vmdk to vdi. For this I went to File->Virtual Media Manager and copy vmdk as vdi. I then remove vmdk from Settings -> Storage and add vdi instead and from Virtual Media Manager increase its size.
However the problem is I am not getting any GUI after conversion of medium formats. It sometimes display error about Lightdm fails to start
. I have checked default-display-manager, it has been set to /usr/sbin/lightdm. sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm
didn't help.
I browse and there are different methods to solve this issue with different root causes but none of the cause is similar to mine.
Please suggest.
