ubuntu 16.04 on virtual dedicated server with external IP can't open any ports
I have cloud virtual server with external IP configured on ubuntu 16.04 . I am trying to configure ssh so i can access it from the internet but no luck as far as that. Also i installed iRedMail on it, installation finished without any errors and i couldn't even access web interface of iRedmail. Simple iperf on 5201 doesn't work either. It looks like something is blocking all the ports. I tried allowing ports on ufw, disabling it completely, nothing helps. My hosting company told me that they don't block any ports and problem has to be in my configuration. What am I missing? thanks

Try disabling ufw altogether with "sudo ufw disable", just to see if that fixes the issue. If it does, you know it's an issue with your firewall configuration. If it's not, then it's something else.
