Which version of Ubuntu runs Compiz flawlessly?

0

Which one was the last Ubuntu version that was able to run all the coolest Compiz effects (magic lamp, burn effect, 3D cube, woobly windows and so on)?

  • Amongst currently supported versions, it should be Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with which Compiz can be used. Later ones have GNOME instead of Unity (although you can still install and use Unity). Anyway, it's hard to objectively answer the question "Which version of Ubuntu runs Compiz flawlessly?" Please mention if there is any specific issue you're facing with Compiz with your version of Ubuntu.

  • Yeah, I went that way, and installed Unity. But when I tried to configure the effects (through CCSM), my desktop stopped working. That's why I need to know a stable Ubuntu version where I can configure the effects without the fear of blowing everything up.

  • @pomsky I remember reading that some compiz features were dropped in 16.04 relative to some older version of Ubuntu. I don't know whether any of the dropped features are listed in the question.
