Is the resolvconf package really needed? I have Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS Server and Xubuntu 18.04.2 (as my development machine) on which I have BIND9 installed and running well and of course systemd-resolve is behaving well, so why resolvconf? I would really like to know to possibly prevent future problems. Thank you!

  • Do you have resolvconf installed? It's not part of the initial install, at least on the desktop.
