Virtualbox Permissions

0

I have found a issue which I have not noticed before maybe this is new in Ubuntu 18.
My virtual machines when they are created they are done so by script and the script sets permissions to be root|vboxusers. Now whoever adds the VM to the virtualbox it automatically changes the ownership of that vm to the user and permissions to rw only for owner. Which is rather annoying because even then owner does not have permissions to execute vm. Any ideas on how to stop this or why it may be doing this ?

Maybe unrelated but I am using sssd together with Active Directory for user management so all those users are AD users and not local
