multi-boot with full disk encryption

0

I decided to attempt to tackle a formidable issue that I had been putting off for some time: install multiple ubuntu instances on the same computer with full disk encryption for each. I pretty much followed this guide, which I found a link to in an answer to this AskUbuntu question.

I didn't create multiple encrypted disks for home, swap, etc, as I was ok with home being on the same partition as everything else and just disabled the swap partition to make things simpler (boot was on an unencrypted partition). Much to my surprise, IT WORKED!

I repeated all the steps a second time and again, much to my surprise, IT WORKED! ...with one very small (read HUGE) problem: Once I logged in to the second encrypted os, the first encrypted os would no longer prompt for a passphrase. It was fine as long as I didn't decrypt and log in to the second one, but as soon as I did, the first one was unusable.

I'm hoping maybe someone has some insight and can provide some guidance. Any ideas?
