firefox displays update needed. My version is 64.0.1 (64-bit) [on hold]

What is the procedure to ensure that my firefox is up to date.
From what I have read here so far I have the impression that my firefox is up to date. However I am getting pop up displays saying that it is not. They provide a link to download update but although it downloads, it never installs. As I am sure you gathered, I am new to this os, which I think is fantastic! Please point me in the right direction. Thanks!

firefox pop up

I checked the url when I first downloaded the update and it appeared ok, but I have since deleted the update, figuring that it was probably for a different os.

ubuntu 17,10

Thank you, that answers this question. I thought that updates for the os were automatic. Where do I go to get it updated please?

  • You are using an old, unsupported version (end-of-life) of Ubuntu, that's why you're not getting updates. Please use a supported Ubuntu release. Questions about end-of-life Ubuntu releases are off-topic here.
