Context: I have a laptop, running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with this dedicated GPU: NVIDIA geforce MX110. I've found that all this time it was using the default GPU, not the dedicated one. So I installed the NVIDIA driver that was available on the Additional Drivers menu, as shown int this figure. The installation went fine.
First Problem: After it, when I rebooted my Ubuntu, an infinite loop login screen appeared. When I typed my password on it and hit Enter, I always got the same login screen. There was a gear icon option in it, as well as the cancel and login buttons. When I clicked in the gear icon, a list appeared with some options. I can only remember these options: Ubuntu (that was selected one by default), Ubuntu Wayland and Cinnamon.
First attempt: I selected the Cinnamon option just to see what would happen. And then this message appeared (see the picture that I've taken): "Cinnamon just crashed (or stopped working). Currently running in fallback (or recuperation) mode. Do you want to reboot Cinnamon?". If I click on the "Yes" button, I literally just got the same message again. If I click on "No", I got a black screen.
Second attempt and current problem: I've tried the steps described here. But, despite the fact that all commands worked just fine, whenever I reboot, I still got that same Cinnamon error message. And that's my current problem: how to get out of this Cinnamon error message. Thanks in advance.
