Why does Ubuntu come with ed? [on hold]
How often does anyone use ed? For reference, Ubuntu does not ship with vim, or emacs. And it shouldn't, but both of those are vastly more popular than ed, which I have never even seen referenced other than historically.

It just occurred to me: is it just following Debian here? If so, the question stands as "Why does Debian ship with ed?", but perhaps askubuntu is the wrong medium for that inquiry. Let me know!
